young.

im only 27.

technically im still a youngen’

sometimes i feel so old though. running a business all by myself requires me to do all sorts of grown up stuff thats no fun. taxes. yuck.

then other times i feel like im still seventeen.

i have had so much fun the last few weeks and months photographing and hanging out with some really cool high school seniors.

oh to be seventeen again….

you seniors have no idea what your future holds and isnt that such an exciting feeling?!?!

you can move to lsu with your two best friends.

live in a new overpriced crappy apartment complex.

have your parents pay for everything while you waste their money on said crappy overpriced apartments rent and partying.

use your grandmas birthday money to get a permanent hideous sun tattoo on your lower back and have your mom quote bible scriptures to you for weeks in disgust.

dye your long blonde hair maroon on accident and be forced to cut it all off and die it black to fix the mess.

spend too much time in bars and nearly fail out of school your first semester.

im not saying that all from personal experience or anything πŸ˜‰ (actually i am)

or you can sign up for an interesting elective like photography or ballroom dancing.

live in a dorm and make new friends you probably would have never met otherwise.

get a fun part time job to help pay for your college expenses. jobs can be fun!

actually show up to class and enjoy the learning experience.

sign up for a semester abroad.

you can go to school and learn anything you are interested in and become anything you want. go anywhere you want. do anything you want.

these are from one of my favorite sessions of the year.

super cool guy with an amazing talent for taking photos himself.

and he did the stanky leg for me. according to this …… anyone who does the stanky leg gets their very own blog post πŸ™‚

so here we go…

i cant take credit for this next one. this was his idea and he even forced me into that creepy room to photograph it πŸ™‚

p.s. i know that copyright watermark is obnoxious but it really does serve a purpose. there are some super creepy people on the internets that love to steal photographers images and use them for who knows what and id rather that not happen.

four.

my beautiful little man celebrated his birthday today.

i am seriously in disbelief that he is four years old already. hes still so cute. his breath still smells so good. hes still so cuddly. hes still my baby…. albeit a very bad baby at times but still mine.

it makes me so sad to think pretty soon he wont want to be held and he wont tell me that im his best friend. he wont cry for me when hes hurt or scared. he will be too big and too tough for his momma.

i sneak into his room every night after he falls asleep to stare at him. he doesnt keep still long enough during the day to get a good look! no joke.

i bring in my ipod and use it as a flashlight to shine in his face so i can look at his pink cheeks and rub on his soft skin and smell his sweet breath. i know i sound like a freak but i know all of you moms know im not crazy.

i dont ever want to forget his sleepy face.

im going to miss this so much.

stephanie - sniff,sniff…my favorite pick of beck. ever.April 4, 2010 – 4:16 pm

Amy - I hear ya Kim. Rose just turned 3 and it hit me…. she will be FOUR on her next birthday!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! 4 is so big. It goes by in the blink of an eye. I love this sweet picture of Beck.April 7, 2010 – 9:04 am

angela - I know how you feel, but if it’s any comfort my little guy is almost 6 and he still wants mommy cuddles. He still has sweet breath and he looks like an angel when he sleeps. I think little boys are meant to be perfect when they sleep.April 10, 2010 – 12:34 pm

gina - kim i know exactly how you feel!! they grow way tooooo fast and it is SO very depressing!! *tear*April 11, 2010 – 11:05 pm

better.

i have decided to make an effort to do at least one thing each week to my little own personal world a better place.

just simple things.

last week i finally after months of thinking about it… got off my arse and drove to the local recycling center and picked up bags and info on how to recycle in my home.

this week my daughter and i signed up with compassion international to sponsor a little girl in africa.

i really wanted raeleigh to be a part of this so she can see how blessed she is to have her life and how amazing it feels to help others. we began searching on the compassion website for a little girl her age and almost immediately found an 8 year old girl named rael which is what our family calls raeleigh half of the time. i think it was meant to be and we are so excited about getting our info packet and beginning our friendship with this little girl on the other side of the world.

beckett is still a little too young to understand the whole thing and just freaks out when we talk about it because he says there are tigers in africa.

next week i might just clean my toilet but i will make sure i do something!

you should all join me in my little weekly better life living idea.

and here are a few images of an incredible senior that i photographed a few weeks ago. i felt like i was 17 again when hanging out with her at her session. she is such a doll.
