leslie and b.

b is actually leslie’s pet name for brett but i stole it and call him b too now because it is just so cute:)

this was just such a happy session. can you tell?

leslie’s happiness is contagious and she just giggled and smiled adoringly at her love and told him that he was “so silly” the entire time we were together.

i like being around them.

Lacey Yarborough - Love these! The first two black and white are absolutely breath-taking! ๐Ÿ™‚January 13, 2014 – 10:01 pm

family is everything.

this family is made up of the sweetest mother and the most patient dad and the cutest most cheekiest little boy around. i try not to use descriptive words too much when blogging about people because it can come off as insincere but this is not an exaggeration people. they will be welcoming another little guy into their family in 2014 and i hope he gets the cheeks too ๐Ÿ™‚

Senior photos.

I am starting to get a lot of inquiries for senior sessions so thought it would be best to put all of the info needed in this here blog post to make it easier for everyone.

now that i am really focusing on weddings i really am not able to take on the number of sessions that i have in the past which is a total bummer.ย i have so much fun photographing senior girls and really wish i had more time to do it. i feel like i am an 18 year old stuck in a frumpy 31 year old mom’s body. i love being a mother and wife and “grown-up” but i really enjoy the time spent working with these teenage girls because it allows me to take off from being a “grown-up” for a while and just enjoy the afternoon with my camera. that last sentence was a lie because i really do not feel grown-up yet. oops.

so i got this email from a senior girl last year while waiting in the starbucks parking lot and sort of cried a little all alone in my car….

“I love the images! so does my mom. I told you that I’m a perfectionist, but if I saw things I didn’t like I wouldn’t say anything…..well I swear I am not just saying that “I love them”. I genuinely mean it. I think the reason why they look so real is because I didn’t feel pressured to be pretty for the camera with you or anything. I mean I am comfortable in my own skin, but you made me feel like it’s okay to be comfortable with whatever beauty (or lack therof) I have! (I think that makes sense….) I adore your work, my gooooodness! haha so thank you Kim!

haha it is okay, i feel like all of my words are translating into 12 year old valley girl dialect also. hahahah :|”

you might be thinking ” dude. kim. why were you crying you big loser? that wasn’t even a sad email.”

I will tell you why i got a little sappy. because i am super emotional. also because i know what it is like to be a senior girl. i am not skinny enough. i am not pretty enough. her clothes are better than mine. my boyfriend is a jerk. where am i going to go to college next year? oh crap. i have to nail that ACT test. why are girls so mean?!?! my parents are so unfair. what am i going to wear tonight. i really need to go on a diet. i should probably starve myself before senior trip.

ok so maybe that was way overdramatic. my point is though that it can be rough being a senior girl.

it is hard to be comfortable in your own skin when you feel the need to be better all the time.

i want these girls to feel great about who they are though so it made my freaking whole year to hear this senior say that i made her comfortable in her own skin.

there is nothing wrong with being the kind of girl who likes to get dolled up and put on tons of accessories and feel good about herself. there is also nothing wrong with being the kind of girl who does not wear a lick of makeup ( shout out to last year’s senior, adaire ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and would rather wear a tee shirt and some flip-flops and feel awesome too. I just want to photograph the real YOU whether that be with the high heels or the chucks.

all i know is we have got to stop this whole senior girls trying to be beyonce with the posing thing because it is creepy and we all know there is only one queen bey.

sorry i am on a gif roll.

anyway. so here is how i do senior sessions….

The cost is $750 plus tax.

with this you get an 1-2 hour session at a location of your choice within Lafayette and the surrounding areas. i am happy to recommend different locations based on the look that the senior is going for. i do not really limit the number of outfits but i think 3-4 is a good number. ย included in this price is also a disk containing the edited digital files as well as 5×7 prints. there are usually 30-40 final images.

i include the digital files in all sessions because this is what i would want if i were a senior. this way you can make your own prints and of course i do recommend an awesome print lab to use so that your prints (wallets and canvases and all that jazz) are of the same quality as what you would buy from a professional photographer.

so there you go.

if you have any questions just let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

and here are a few of the images from last year’s senior class.

Stephanie - Kim, you are the queen of Seniors. These are all so stunning. Amazing talent, my friend. Dying over the red head.March 27, 2014 – 5:27 pm

Joline and Jacob engaged.

This day and this couple made me so happy and feel so lucky to have this job.

As a photographer i want to give couple’s photos to remember what they felt like before they were married. i don’t want to just give them photos of what they looked like.

Jacob and Joline love each other so much. When they look at each other and speak to each other you can tell that they are also just so proud to belong with the other.

Watching them make goo-goo eyes all afternoon reminded me of how i felt when my husband and i were younger and life was simpler and we just sat and stared at each other half of the day. I wish I had photos of us from then to help me remember how it all started.

I love the images from the session because i think they perfectly document Jacob and Joline at this time in their lives.

The images are simple but full of love and happiness and sweetness.

All of these were taken on the property that they plan on building their future home on. No props necessary. ( except for that amazing hammock that i scored off of etsy. shout out to Maribel in Nicaragua! )

Jacob proposed to Joline under this tree. a metal detector was involved ๐Ÿ™‚

this next series is my favorite. they make each other so happy.

sophie vicknair - I just love how smiley and giggly this Bride-To-Be is. Just beautiful!October 29, 2013 – 12:12 pm

Hannah and Patrick engaged. and i suck at blogging.

I have some splainin to do.

long story short, i have a baby girl that loves me very much and a family that needs a lot of me and a busy busy business that makes it hard to blog. the end.

but i miss blogging so i want to give this a go again.

i took hannah’s senior pictures back in the day which i think is pretty cute. i feel so special that i will now be photographing her wedding next year. i liked her then and i like her now.

her patrick is a pretty great guy too. he is not into being photographed at all. you would never know though because he does what he needs to do to keep hannah happy ๐Ÿ™‚

i feel like sharing a few pictures from this session because i adore hannah’s big smile.

she will probably hate me for it but you know what? this is my blog.

so here we go…..

true love right here….

sweet boots patrick. ย i want the internets to know that he caught that gator. that is how we do it here in louisiana ๐Ÿ˜‰

i can’t believe i put that cartman gif up there.

Kaylynn Marie - PAHAHAHHAAHAH YOU OPENED WITH A SOUTH PARK GIF. Friends. Friends for life. Thanks.February 11, 2014 – 6:01 pm
